The students should acquire visual culture that will allow them to identify and discriminate between the different creative languages across history and understand the use of image across time as a vehicle of power, spirituality, memory and how its codes accumulated and subsist to the present day.

Antiquity: the codification of reality, Art in the construction of empires, cosmogonies.
The Middle Ages: the Kingdom of Heaven in the Kingdom of Men, the power of symbols.
The Modern Age: the reinvention of History, the profane and the sacred, communicating by metaphors, art as a profession.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment. Participation in class.
One mid-term test and/or final exam.
