Provide basic training in the field of materials and laboratory techniques for testing. Student must be able to: select materials; study an aggregate; determine the mix of two or more aggregates, study the composition of a concrete; to do concrete tests.

1-Aggregates.Properties of raw materials, particle size analysis 2-Mortars: definition, types, properties, shrinkage, adhesion and additives. 3-Concrete. Classes of concrete, environmental exposure, study of the composition of concrete, tests on fresh and hardened concrete.4-Binders: definition, air and hydraulic binders, cements.

Evaluation Methodology
Assessment is based on reports (20%) and a written test (intermediate test or exam)(80%).
Approval requires a minimum of 9.5 / 20 values.

Method of interaction
Lectures on the characterisation and properties of raw materials for the manufacture of mortars/concrete and for the formulation of the composition of concrete. Laboratory testing and problem solving on concrete aggregates and fresh/hard concrete.
