The Higher Professional Technical Course in Human Resources Administration and Management prepares professionals to support and develop the different processes related to people management within organisations. The programme combines a strong administrative and technical component with a contemporary approach to Human Resources Management, keeping pace with the increasing digitalisation of organisations and the transformation of the labour market.
Throughout the course, students engage with areas such as recruitment and selection, personnel administration, payroll processing, training and development, labour law, organisational communication, and team management. The programme therefore aims to prepare professionals who are able to deal both with the administrative responsibilities of Human Resources and with the new challenges associated with managing, developing, and valuing people within organisations.
Students develop a broad range of skills that enable them to work in different areas of Human Resources Management. They learn how to support recruitment and selection processes, employee admission and onboarding, contract and employment documentation management, salary and benefits processing, training organisation, and performance management and assessment.
The programme also enables students to develop communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, as well as knowledge of labour law and digital tools applied to people management. In a context in which Human Resources increasingly relies on technology, data, and Artificial Intelligence, it is also essential to prepare students to use these tools critically, responsibly, and in accordance with organisational needs.
Graduates may work as Human Resources Technicians, Human Resources Administrative Technicians, Recruitment and Selection Technicians, Training Technicians, People Management Assistants, or perform support roles in team management and personnel administration processes.
These skills can be applied in private companies, public-sector organisations, associations, recruitment and temporary employment agencies, consultancy firms, or other organisations with people management structures.
People continue to be one of the most important resources of any organisation, while the way they are managed is changing rapidly. Today, Human Resources professionals need to combine administrative and legal knowledge with new skills related to technology, communication, information analysis, talent attraction and retention, and employee development.
The Higher Professional Technical Course in Human Resources Administration and Management provides multidisciplinary training that is closely aligned with professional practice, enabling students to acquire skills that can be directly applied in the labour market.
One of the programme’s key distinguishing features is its strong practical component, culminating in a semester-long work placement. This experience allows students to apply the knowledge they have acquired, understand how an organisation operates in a real-world context, develop professional skills, and establish valuable initial contact with the labour market.
Studying at the Polytechnic University of Tomar provides students with a close and supportive academic environment, characterised by strong interaction between students and lecturers and a clear connection between academic learning and professional practice.
The practical component is particularly important in a Higher Professional Technical Course, as it enables students to develop skills that can be applied to real organisational situations. UPTomar’s strong links with the business and institutional community also provide opportunities for students to engage with different organisations and undertake work-based training.
In addition to its teaching facilities and infrastructure, studying in Tomar offers students an integrated academic experience in an environment that supports learning, participation in academic life, and preparation for entering the labour market.
