Objectives
a) To know and understand the fundamental principles in Conservation of Cultural Heritage and develop a duly
justified critical approach;
b) To recognise the importance of transversality and interdisciplinarity in Conservation;
c) To identify each object, collection/place of intervention.

Program
1. The fundamental principles for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage imply: ethical and deontological principles
2. Hygiene and safety principles, equipment and tools operation and materials application in Conservation;
3. Intervention procedures: Identification, Registration, Diagnosis, Examination and analysis actions, and
Intervention Methodology;
4. Conservation techniques to be adopted.

Evaluation Methodology
Individual and group research (50% for each).

Teaching Method
Theoretical and practical lessons in the classroom and in conservation and restoration laboratories; debates with
conservation and restoration specialists, presentation of topics by students, individually or in groups.
