Erasmus Day | International Teaching and Research Week

The Polytechnic University of Tomar (UPTomar) will host the International Teaching and Research Week from 12 to 16 October 2026 in Tomar, Portugal. This initiative is organised within the framework of project 2026-1-PT01-KA131-HED-000408487 and forms part of the Erasmus Day 2026 celebrations.

The programme has been designed around four strategic objectives: promoting the internationalisation of higher education, fostering partnerships in applied research, facilitating the exchange of best practices in teaching and learning, and creating opportunities for staff mobility and the development of joint projects. Through these activities, UPTomar aims to strengthen international academic cooperation and encourage innovative approaches to education and research.

The programme will commence on Monday, 12 October, with the arrival of participants. On Tuesday, activities will focus on teaching and educational innovation and will include a welcome session, an institutional presentation of UPTomar and its research centres, a guided tour of the campus and laboratories, and a welcome lunch. The afternoon will be dedicated to lectures, workshops and other academic activities tailored to participants' individual programmes.

On Wednesday, 14 October, participants will have the opportunity to engage in networking activities and explore the region’s cultural heritage through a guided visit to the Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On Thursday, the programme will continue with a further focus on teaching and educational innovation, featuring additional lectures, workshops and academic exchange activities.

The International Teaching and Research Week will conclude on Friday, 16 October, with the departure of participants.
