The awareness session “Education for All” is aimed at teachers, assistants, technicians, students, parents/guardians, and all those interested in the topic, with the following objectives:
Promote equal opportunities and combat stereotypes about disability
Create a space for sharing and reflection on challenges and solutions for inclusion
Empower the educational community to adopt more inclusive and accessible practices
Involve persons with disabilities themselves, giving them a voice in building a more equitable school

The project “Education for All”, launched by the Portuguese Association of Neuromuscular Disorders (APN), aims to promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in their school environment. With a theme focused on Human Rights and Inclusive Education, the project seeks to foster a more accessible, equitable and barrier-free school, ensuring that all young people have the same opportunities for learning and participation.
Co-financed by the INR, I.P. Project Funding Program for 2025, the initiative responds to persistent challenges in implementing inclusive education, such as:
Physical barriers that hinder access and mobility in schools
Attitudinal barriers related to prejudice and lack of information about disability
Insufficient resources, including lack of specialized training and individualized support
The session will include interactive activities and moments of debate, allowing participants to understand, in practice, the impact of existing barriers and strategies to overcome them.
In parallel, participants will have the opportunity to explore a set of Assistive and Rehabilitation Technologies for People with Motor and Neurofunctional Limitations, through demonstration videos of systems developed at the Polytechnic of Tomar under the coordination of Professor Gabriel Pires. These solutions stem from several research and development projects carried out over recent years, including ongoing initiatives such as the BCI4ALL project, funded by FCT/COMPETE, within the R&D Laboratory “Assisted Living by Intelligent Environments” at IPT, focused on technologies that promote autonomy and quality of life for elderly people and disabled persons.
