Fábrica da MFTE do Tramagal prepara parceria formativa com o Politécnico de Tomar

The Mitsubishi Fuso Truck Europe (MFTE) plant in Tramagal (Abrantes) is to start a training project for its employees in partnership with the Polytechnic of Tomar (IPT). The training programme is expected to start in the second half of 2024.

According to the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), the Portuguese subsidiary in Tramagal is currently one of the largest employers in the region and this partnership will help to increase these figures. "The aim is to promote the development of employees through a new training programme planned for the second half of 2024, while providing career prospects for young professionals in the region," MFTBC said in a press release (comunicado).

E-mobility and production engineering are at the heart of this partnership, and training is being developed to prepare employees for the challenges of this field.

"Electrification is one of the main pillars of Mitsubishi Fuso's growth strategy, especially in Europe. Preparing employees for the challenges of the transition to electric mobility is therefore seen as an important step in ensuring the future success of the plant," the company added.

Last May, MFTE began large-scale production of the all-electric eCanter for the European markets. Currently, more than 600 employees support the ramp-up of this electric truck, making this training partnership with IPT even more relevant, namely through the recognised degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering.

To this end, the Academic Directors of the Polytechnic of Tomar recently visited MFTE's production facilities to meet with production and human resources representatives and begin to outline this partnership.
