As part of the actions of the INOVC+ project - Smart Innovation Ecosystem of the Centre Region, the IPT through the Gabinete de Apoio à Atividades de Investigação e Desenvolvimento (GID) promotes the Ignition Projects and Proofs of Concept Competition that aims to identify and stimulate the enhancement of R&D projects.

The call for INOVC+ Ignition Projects and Proofs of Concept aims to encourage and stimulate IPT faculty and researchers who have developed R&D+I projects to explore their commercial potential.

Recipients

All faculty members and researchers who carry out research activities in organisations linked to the Polytechnic of Tomar or to units associated or participated by it are eligible to apply for this call, individually or in partnership.

Project eligibility

The IPT will provide financial support to projects that:

• Aim at testing or prototyping products or services resulting from scientific research, with a view to the commercial use of research results;
• Propose innovative solutions;
• Promote scientific outreach, participation and public engagement;
• They have already demonstrated successful R&D results, but need further validation;
• They have progressed beyond the stage where R&D funding opportunities are normally available, and it is unlikely that industry or investor capital will be secured at that stage.

On the other hand, projects will not be eligible for support if they:

• Do not clearly and unequivocally demonstrate their commercial applicability;
• Are limited to existing or traditional approaches that do not provide a clear competitive advantage at a global level;
• They propose to carry out basic research, generate models, new projects or assess the feasibility of an R&D project.
• Have previously received funding from another source.

The projects to be developed will have to be carried out until 15 September 2023 in facilities and with resources belonging to the IPT.

Funding

The maximum amount of support to be made available by the Polytechnic of Tomar is €2,300.00 per project.
The maximum number of projects to be supported is limited to the available budget.
