Polytechnic of Tomar hosts Sustainability Meeting in Portuguese-Speaking Countries
The 23rd Meeting of the Network of Environmental Studies from Portuguese Speaking Countries (REALP) - Sustainability Sciences in Portuguese Language will take place in the Polytechnic of Tomar from 11 to 15 October.
REALP is currently composed by 14 universities from Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde, also including the Ministries of Environment from Portugal and Brazil, the Foundation for Science and Technology of Portugal (FCT) and the Brazilian counterparts CAPES and CNPq.
The Network was created in 1997 by initiative of the Governments of Portugal and Brazil, with the global objective of promoting scientific cooperation in the area of environment and sustainable development, having progressively expanded to all the Portuguese-speaking countries.
With 26 academic sessions, the Meeting in Tomar was motivated by the need to reorganise the network, due to its institutional growth and its scientific and social impact. The creation of a network of international Master's and Doctoral degrees and the articulation with other countries, namely in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, are two of the priorities of this meeting, which will discuss and approve recommendations on themes that include low-density demographic territories, river basins, circular economy, heritage, the responsibilities of the financial sector, among others.
