IPT welcomes young people interested in learning about the past
The Polytechnic of Tomar and Ciência Viva have joined efforts to offer an archaeological experience to 9th to 12th graders.
Every year IPT researchers and faculty members carry out studies on the human past in the region. This year, as in previous years, vacancies have been created to incrporate young people into the team.
The activity takes place between 21 August and 1 September and participants will be accommodated at the IPT with their monitors.
"Getting to know the past has been a mind-blowing experience," says one of them, "I didn't realise it could be so exhausting and brutal at the same time," says another.
Professor and researcher Dr Alexandra Figueiredo says that 14 participants are expected from various parts of Portugal and that these projects are excellent for helping them to answer questions about the science of archaeology, an option that some of them are considering for their future career.
