Objectives
Students should be able to: a) Understand and describe social and economic issues; b) Consult statistical and bibliographic data sources to obtain information relevant to addressing each problem.
Within this general context, the central objective will be to guide students towards acquiring knowledge grounded in the understanding and interpretation of data and social issues. When, where, why and under what circumstances will be questions that are always present.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous Assessment:
Written Test 50%
Assignments 50%
Written Component 20%
Oral Presentation 30%
Students will be excluded from the continuous assessment scheme if they:
fail to obtain a minimum grade of 7 out of 20 in the written test;
fail to submit and present the assignment (written and oral components).
The final grade is calculated as the simple arithmetic mean of all assessment components.
Examination Assessment (Regular and Resit Examination Periods):
Written Examination 100%
The written examination covers all the course content taught throughout the semester.
Minimum passing grade: 10 out of 20.
