Objectives
A.1 Understand the aesthetic diversity of cinema from the 50s of the twentieth century.
A.2 Critically locate referential film works in the movements and trends in which they are inserted.
A.3 To know briefly the history of Portuguese cinema in the second half of the twentieth century.

1. Italian neo-realism
2. The time of american McCarthyism
3. The french Nouvelle Vague
4. Other new waves

II. From cinematographic modernity to the era of digital cinema
1. The new cinemas
2. New geographies of cinema
3. The cinema and the digital age

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment:
a) Reading note: 20% of final mark
b) Critical review of a film included in the module specifications: 20% of final mark
c) Class participation: 20% of final mark
d) Assessment paper: 40% of final mark
