Prerequisites
Concepts of the structure and properties of biological molecules.

Objectives
Study of the microbial diversity and its classification, the procaryotic
and eucaryotic cell organization, morphology and growth patterns.
Microbial interactions and role in living systems and
biotechnological production.

Program
1 ? A survey and classification of life at cell level.
2 ? Morphology, ultrastructure and characteristics of bacteria,
fungi, and protists.
3 ? Viruses: structure, morphology and replication.
4 ? Microbial nutrition, growth, control, metabolism and reproduction.
5 ? Characterization of different microbial environments.
6 ? Applied and industrial microbiology.

Evaluation Methodology
Laboratory continuous assessment.
Written laboratory test. Final theoretical examination.
