Objectives
This course has as main objectives:
1 - To study issues related to ethical, legal and social implications of ICT and IT in the health sector by acquiring knowledge of its importance and how to act in solving new problems;
2 - To analyze concepts, institutions and tools related to information security as well as the risks and threats to which is subject, students acquire skills to safeguard and protect information.
3 - Know the main points of concern that the institutions for data protection equates with regard to privacy of citizens.
4 - Encourage students to study and implement international standards regarding the safety and protection of information in their use of ICT.
5 - Examine best practices from the analysis of cases allows students aware of the difficulties already overcome, the solutions adopted and the results achieved in a practical application of IS in healthcare

The evaluation method consists in performing an individual work in article form.

Teaching Method
Considering the objectives of the course on Social Issues and Security in Health Informatics teaching method is to practice oral presentation of the syllabus provided (lectures) and the presentation and discussion of issues and practical examples related to them (theoretical and practical lessons ). Are also provided tutorial orientation sessions. It shall be used too an e-learning platform.
