Prerequisites
Basic computer skills from a user's perspective.

Objectives
By the end of the semester the students should have acquired an historical perspective of film editing and will be able to autonomously organise an editing project, understand and try out new forms of overlapping shots and have a good command of general film-making techniques.

Program
The early days of film and film editing; early techniques; "invisible editing"; Soviet avant-garde; representation, manipulation and truth; strategies of discontinuity; variety of materials for contemporary documentaries; the power of overlapping; structure; introduction to editing software Final Cut Pro; project organisation; key tools and editing techniques.

Evaluation Methodology
Written test and three editing exercises in the regular assessment seasons. Class attendance, motivation and performance.

Teaching Method
