Objectives
The students should have gained observation, analysis and diagnosis skills. They should also be able to use graphic, photographic and literature search as support resources and produce documentary records of the items to be preserved or restored and all steps of the process.

Program
1. Rocks as porous materials
2. The movement of water through the rocks
3. Effects of Temperature Variation
4. The action of salts in stone decay
5. Etching
6. Biodeterioration
7. Pathologies or causes of stone deterioration
8. Intervention in stone materials

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment: practical project, technical report and written test.
Final assessment: written examination.
