Risk Management is a methodology for analysis and decision support that currently knows multiple applications in the field of heritage conservation. The main objective of Integrated Risk Management is to familiarize students with these different applications, associated concepts and potentialities for its use in different scopes of conservation and restoration, to enable them to:
a) analyse, in a systematic and detailed manner, the risks that threaten a particular object, collection or site;
b) assess the risks impending on a particular object, site or collection, and define intervention priorities for their treatment;
c) design and implement preventive conservation plans, including monitoring and maintenance schemes;
d) monitor the preparation and implementation of safety plans;
e) communicate the risks and raise awareness to the importance of their management.

Learning assessment relies on student's active engagement in class, including an oral presentation (25% of the final grade); and on an individually written risk management report (75% of the final grade), to be submitted during the exams period. Minimum pass mark: 10 out of 20.
Attendance of theoretical-practical classes is compulsory.
