The student must have a personal computer with an external mouse and internet access.
At the end of the course unit the student is expected to be able to know:
1. General knowledge about Prehistoric Art on the peninsular, European and world level;
2. Have general notions of techniques and types of rock art, epochs and cultural horizons and chronologies;
3. Be familiar with the UNESCO World Heritage list of rock art sites;
4. Be aware of the different methods of documentation and recording applied today to a rock art site.
5. General notions of archaeometric methods of pigment analysis and dating of rock art.

1.3. Different contexts.
1.4. Cultural horizons / chronologies.
2. History of teaching methods.
2.1 The importance of the early 20th century in rock art research.
3. Documentation of prehistoric art.
3.1. Methodology applied to the recording and documentation of rock art in 2D and 3D;
4. Pigment analysis and dating methods.
4.1. characterization of prehistoric pigments.
4.2 Characterization of organic compounds in prehistoric pigments.
4.3 Dating methods.
5. The UNESCO World Heritage list of rock art sites.
5.1 Recognition of major rock art areas in Europe and the World.
Continuous assessment. Preparation of a small individual work with oral presentation.

Classes are held using PowerPoint for demonstration of the subject supported by real time internet digital content. Practical classes are performed either in the rock art laboratory or in the field using institutional equipment.
