Objectives
The main objectives of the Introduction to Technology curricular unit are for students to be able to adopt technological tools that allow them to evaluate and improve the evolution of sports practice, in conjunction with the technical team.

Program
1. Mechanics: force, mass, position, velocity and acceleration. Rectilinear and curvilinear motion and Newton's laws. Concept of torque, moment of inertia, angular velocity. Motion adapters, levers and gearboxes.
2. Electrotechnics: current, voltage, resistance, sources. Power and energy. Measuring devices and their use. Fundamental laws. Components: capacitor, resistor, coil. Introduction to semiconductors. Examples of use in equipment: power supply systems, mechatronic actuation systems and basic safety rules;
3. Actuators: technologies, characteristics and use of different types of actuators: motors, piezoelectric systems, lights, hydraulics, pneumatics.

Evaluation Methodology
A written test in any of the assessment periods, worth 100% of the final grade. Passing the course requires a mark of 10 or more in the written test.
