Objectives
At the end of the U.C. the student will be able to:
1.1. carry out data analysis, interpret the results obtained and proceed with decision-making;
1.2. analyze a scatter diagram, determine the equation of the regression line, obtain estimates for parameters based on the linear regression model and critically interpret the results obtained.
2. The student will be able to develop logical and analytical reasoning that allows the creation of autonomy in learning.

Program
I. DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS
1.1. Preliminary considerations;
1.1.1. Population and Sample;
1.1.2. Phases of the Statistical Method;
1.1.3. Data exploration and Statistical Inference;
1.1.4. Examples of application of statistics;
1.2. Type of data:
1.2.1. Qualitative data;
1.2.2. Quantitative data;
1.3. Frequency distribution and its graphical representation;
1.4. Descriptive Statistics Measures:
1.4.1. Location measurements;
1.4.2. Dispersion measures;
1.4.3. Shape measures: asymmetry and flatness.

II. LINEAR REGRESSION AND CORRELATION
2.1. Scatter diagram. Pearson's linear correlation coefficient.
2.2. The simple linear regression model and the least squares line. The Coefficient of Determination. Interpretation of model parameters.

Evaluation Methodology
The same methodology is used both in the continuous assessment period and in the exam periods, which consists of a written test, graded from 0 to 20, without consultation and covering all the material taught during the semester. Approval if the rounded classification is greater than or equal to 10 values.
