Objectives
a) Understand the existence of different types of events and their specific features;
b) Be able to recognise the various stages and procedures required to organise an event, taking into account the briefing and the stated objective;
c) Direct Communication in Event Management to the target audience;
d) Provide students with the ability to acquire the skills needed to use appropriate language and the correct posture at each event;
e) Make students aware of the importance of teamwork in Event Organisation and Management.

Program
1 – The concept of an event
a. Types of events, characteristics and examples;

2 – Development of the Phases of Event Organisation and Operationalisation:
a. Definition of the event concept and the respective briefing;
b. General Planning (Objectives; Target audiences; Strategy);
c. Operational Planning:
– Event programme and activities;
– Marketing and communication (Media Relations; Communication Materials);
– Team management;
– Budget;
– Sponsors, patrons, partners;
– Logistics;
– Checklists;
– Evaluation Control: Qualitative and Quantitative

3 – Protocol
a. Importance of protocol;
b. Corporate protocol and event protocol;
c. Invitations;
d. Reception and introductions;
e. Order of precedence;
f. Table protocol;
g. Dress code.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous Assessment
In this assessment period, the assessment of the course unit is continuous and results from the following weighted average: Participation – 20% + Theoretical-Practical Assignment – 40% + Assignment Presentation – 40%. The student passes the course unit in accordance with the provisions of Points 11 and 12 of Article 11 of the IPT Academic Regulations.

Assessment by Examination
In this assessment period, the assessment of the course unit results from the following weighted average: Theoretical-Practical Assignment, whose brief is released during the semester – 50%, and Assignment Presentation – 50%. The student must submit the written assignment up to 2 days before its defence. Point 3 of Article 11 of the Academic Regulations of the IPT Schools (exclusion from examination) applies to this course unit. The student passes the course unit in accordance with the provisions of Points 11 and 12 of Article 11 of the IPT Academic Regulations.

Working Students
The assessment described above also applies to working students. Working students must contact the lecturer during the first two weeks of classes in order to be informed of their assessment method.

Erasmus Students
The assessment described above also applies to Erasmus students. Erasmus students must contact the lecturer in order to be informed of their assessment method within two weeks of their arrival.
