Objectives
Based on the general objectives, by the end of this unit, students should be able to:

Conceptual Understanding:
Differentiate between the concepts of circuits, itineraries, and routes, recognizing their specificities and practical applications in the tourism context.

Information Gathering and Integration:
Select, gather, and integrate information from various sources, considering its relevance and reliability, for the development of coherent and attractive tourist itineraries.

Planning and Development:
Utilize appropriate tools and methodologies for the design, planning, and execution of tourist itineraries, ensuring an enriching experience for tourists.

Critical Analysis:
Analyze and reflect on issues related to tourist itineraries, both nationally and internationally, identifying challenges, trends, and opportunities.

Communication and Promotion:
Identify and apply effective communication and promotion strategies, considering the peculiarities of the tourism sector and the expectations of the target audience.

Fieldwork and Geographic Orientation:
Develop skills for data collection and interpretation in real-life settings and apply geographic orientation strategies and tools, maximizing the tourist experience in urban and rural areas.

Program
1. Tourist Routes, Itineraries, and Circuits:
1.1) Conceptualization and Distinctions.
1.2) Analysis of Practical Examples in the Contemporary Tourism Context.
2. Tourist Territory: Tourist Space and Tourist Landscape:
2.1) Understanding Cultural and Natural Landscapes as Tourist Products.
2.2) Study of Tourist Routes inscribed in World Heritage and their relevance in the international tourism landscape.
3. Organization of Itineraries: Methodologies and Development:
3.1) Approach to thematic itineraries and their applicability.
3.2) Methodologies inherent to the process of organizing tourist activities.
3.3) Study of itinerary typology and practical strategies for their implementation.
4. Products and Promotion Strategies:
4.1) Techniques for identifying, selecting, and organizing relevant information in tourist contexts.
4.2) Critical examination of tourist communication strategies and their effectiveness in the current market.
5. On-Site Orientation Strategies (Urban and Rural Spaces):
5.1) Application of contemporary orientation tools and geographic location systems, with a focus on digital instruments like Google Maps.
5.2) Geographic orientation practices in urban and rural contexts.
6. Practical Application:
6.1) Practical development of tourist itineraries, from conceptualization to promotion strategy.
6.2) Practical workshop for creating and presenting an integrated tourist itinerary.

Evaluation Methodology

Active Participation (20%):

Constructive contributions in classes and seminars.
Ability to establish connections between the taught content and practical experiences.
Fieldwork (30%):

Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data in tourist locations.
Demonstration of practical skills in applying geographic orientation strategies.
Final Project: Tourist Itinerary (30%):

Development of a comprehensive tourist itinerary, considering the concepts and methodologies covered during the curriculum unit.
Inclusion of aspects such as destinations, points of interest, duration, costs, and sustainability considerations.
Oral Presentation of the Project (15%):

Communication and synthesis skills.
Argumentation and defense of the proposed itinerary, as well as the methodology used.
Critical Reflection Report (5%):

Reflection on the learning and practical processes throughout the curriculum unit.
Ability for self-critique and identification of areas for improvement in future professional practices.

Teaching Method
An interactive and practical pedagogical approach will be adopted, combining theory with real-world application. The theoretical classes will provide the conceptual framework, complemented by seminars that promote debate and critical analysis.
