Objectives
1.Identification of the main supports, techniques, and materials associated with the production of graphic documents.
2.Identification of the principal agents of deterioration affecting graphic documents, together with examples of the most common types of damage and alteration processes in this context.
3.Framing of conservation and restoration interventions on paper?based graphic documents within the ethics and professional deontology of the field.
4.Definition of evaluation criteria during the condition assessment phase.
5.Definition of intervention methodologies: key aspects to consider in the context of graphic documents.
Program
1.Introduction to graphic documents;
2.Characterization of the field of graphic documents and typologies;
3. Identification of agents responsible for the deterioration of graphic documents;
4. Graphic documents preventive conservation;
5. Condition assessment;
6.Development of an intervention and budget proposal;
7.Main conservation and restoration methodologies for graphic documents.
8.Packaging for storage, display and transportation
Evaluation Methodology
For approval, the final grade must be at least 9.5/20
The final evaluation is composed by:
a) Attendance, participation, performance (20%)
b) Final theoretical test (mandatory), related to the subjects taught in theoretical and practical classes (40%)
c) Final report (40%).
Only students with positive evaluation (at least 9.5 points) on the continuous evaluation period (a)), will be admitted to exam (evaluation focused on the subjects acquired in the theoretical and practical classes).
Students with an attendance of less than 2/3 of practical classes are automatically excluded from the Curricular Unit

Teaching Method
Lectures concerning the technical and scientific principles of the curricular unit.
Laboratory sessions including didactic exercises of condition assessment and different treatment options followed by application in real objects.
