Lecturer
Prerequisites
Concepts of chemical kinetics and thermodynamics.
Objectives
Development of skills in the analysis and design of ideal chemical reactors through the production of mass and energy balances.
Program
1 ?Introduction: classification, characterisation and selection of ideal chemical reactors.
2 ? Methods for experimental determination of chemical reaction kinetics.
3 ? Reactors with on-load refuelling and a stirring device
4 - Batch and semi-batch reactors
5 - Tubular reactors
6 ? Residence time distribution
Evaluation Methodology
Theoretical component is assessed through a written test (as continuous or exam assessment) and practical component is assessed through laboratory reports and coursework.
