Objectives
I-Know the different processes of construction and execution on site including various techniques, function of components, execution sequences and equipment.
II-Know how to choose the most appropriate process for a task
Program
1-Preparatory work for construction (demolition, earth movements and lowering of water table). 2-Foundations (direct, indirect and caves). 3- Earth-Retaining structures (provisional, definitive and anchorages). 4-Formwork (traditional and standardized). 5-Building structures (concrete, wood and steel). 6- Exterior walls using conventional methods (in Portugal) . 7-Roof structures (concrete and wood). 8-Special construction processes 9-Prefabrication. 10-Innovative construction systems
Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment and exam:
The module is divided into 2 parts (part1 and 2)
Part 1 includes a written test T1 (50%)
Part 2 includes a written test T2 (25%) and 4 written assignments (25%)
Final grade (CF)=0,5xT1+0,25xT2+0,25xP
Exemption from exam: CF equal or more than 9.5
Eligibility to exam: Cf less than 9.5
Exam: a written test
