Study the origins and methods of the discipline, anthropogenesis, hominization, from the beginnings of the Paleolithic to the specialized hunter societies of the Upper Paleolithic. Understand the settlement strategies, economic and social models, technological evolution, and the ways of life of those societies, with particular emphasis to the Iberian territory.
Provide students with basic knowledge about the origins and evolution of humanity during the Paleolithic, both in biological terms, both technologically and intellectually. To known the interaction of hunter-gatherers' societies with the natural environment.
The importance of prehistory in contemporary times and the anatomical, economic, social, technological, cognitive and ideological evolution of communities with predatory economy, since its origins.

The origin of man and the first instrument manufacturers in Africa: The Exit from Africa;
environmental and technological issues;
The middle and the prehistoric man;
The first European societies;
The Hunter-gatherers of the Lower and Middle Paleolithic: fire and progression to the north;
The Acheulian;
Natural resources during the Middle Paleolithic; neanderthal man and the
burial of the dead;
The Hunter-gatherers of the Upper Paleolithic: art;
The occupation of the entire planet;
The industries of the Upper Paleolithic;
Natural resources during the Upper Paleolithic;
The Mesolithic gatherers hunters.

Evaluation Methodology
Assessment includes a final report/assignment
A minimum mark of 10/20 exempts students from taking the exam.
