Objectives
Strength of Materials II is a follow-up to Strength of Materials I and aims to provide the students with basic skills that will allow them to calculate bending stress and deformation and analyse structural elements under elastic instability. It is also made the study of connections.

Program
1-Tangential stresses under simple bending: thin-wall beams, open-section beams and cellular beams;
2-Stress and deformations of a bar under torsion;
3-Stress and strain state;
4-Analysis of structural elements under combined stress;
5-Elastic instability in linear elements.

Evaluation Methodology
Written test with theoretical component (5val.) and practical component (15val.). In the written test the minimum grades, to pass, are: in the theoretical part 1.5val. and 9.5 val. in total of two parts.
