Objectives
The student at the end of the semester should be able to independently understand and execute the photographic printing processes covered; Know how to distinguish characteristics and potentialities of the execution of the different printing processes; Know how to analyze the constituents of the supports and reagents of the photosensitive solutions; Understand and interpret variables adjacent to the processes such as: contrast, density, veil, detail reproduction; To raise awareness for the sustainable use of printing techniques, minimizing the environmental impact. Putting into practice the critical sense and autonomy to circumvent printing errors and defects and be able, with total autonomy, to execute a creative project at the end of the course.

Program
Part 1 - Judicious production of large format matrices by digital means.

Part 2 - Cyanotype printing. Skills acquired: ability to adjust the contrast of the negative to the native contrast of the photographic solution. Manipulate process chemistry in order to obtain alternative color variations to Prussian blue. Experiment with cyanotype in different supports and understand the particularities of each one.

Part 3 - Printing in Antotype. Skills acquired: understand the potential of using plants, spices and fruits for the production of photographic images, in a logic of environmental sustainability. Understand the influence of the pH variation of the solutions in obtaining different colors from the same organic matter.

Part 4 - Printing on charcoal. Skills acquired: production of photographic emulsion based on colloid and pigment. Production of multiple proofs from the same matrix. Control viscosity by manipulating restrictive agents according to the desired contrast. Mastery of the technique of transferring the image from temporary support to definitive support.

Part 5 - Developing 35mm black and white film with organic compounds. Skills acquired: Production of developing solution from acidic organic compounds (ascorbic, tannic and gallic). Understand the distinguishing characteristics of standard processing. Raise awareness for the use of sustainable disclosure methods.

Delivery of 4 written reports related to cyanotype, antotype, coal, revelation with caffeine.

Written test: a written test that will contain all the theoretical material covered in the lectures on a date to be agreed in class.

Part 6 - Final project. The student will have to carry out a project using at least one of the printing techniques covered in the context of the classes. Creativity, dexterity and conceptual defense of the project are valued at an exhibition at the end of the semester.

Teaching Method
Online theoretical lectures using slide projection interface that articulate with laboratory practice where the experimentation and application of the knowledge acquired in the context of the theoretical classes is carried out.
