Prerequisites
Knowledge of biochemistry and cellular biology.

Objectives
The students should be able to use and explore molecular biology approaches and techniques used to clone and analyse genes and its products within recombinant DNA technology as well as design and optimise enzymatic and fermentative processes.

Program
Description of genetic material and its characteristics.Genetic expression. Strategeie and methodologies used to clone and analyse genes and its products within recombinant DNA technology.Introduction to kinetics of free and immobilised enzymes. A short introduction to the design of ideal biological reactors. Practical cases of biological engineering.

Evaluation Methodology
Final written test, preparation and
presentation of a practical assignment and reports on laboratory activities.
Minimum pass mark in all components: 10/20.

Teaching Method
Theoretical lectures on course subjects. Laboratory sessions focused on the resolution of applied exercises and practical execution of laboratory activities.
