Prerequisites
Basics of mathematics and chemistry.

Objectives
The students should be aware of the significance of chemical and biological industries to a sustainable development; identify variables and classify different types of process; interpret manufacturing diagrams and flowsheets.

Program
The main chemical industry sectors and products. Safety regulations for industry. The relationship between industry and environment. The implementation stages of an industrial project. Introduction to chemical and biochemical engineering. Units and measurements. Scientific notation. Manufacturing charts and block charts. Industrial applications.

Evaluation Methodology
Preparation and presentation of a practical assignment and a final written test.
Minimum requirement: 10 marks in each assessment component.
