Basic concepts of Statics, Dynamics and Strength of Materials.
The students should understand the principles, theories and models for the analysis of structural systems subjected to static and dynamics loads. They should also understand modelling and analysis of internal forces and structural displacements and use simplified methods of structural analysis.
Structural design. Pre-dimensioning and safety check. Structures subject to vertical load. Structures subject to horizontal load: bracing systems, dimensioning of wind and seismic actions. Computer-aided calculus of structures.
One final written exam during regular assessment season, and practical coursework carried out on class.
