The project "Choose robotics, Choose Science" was born from a partnership between Instituto Politécnico de Tomar (IPT) and Ciência Viva (National agency for scientific and technological culture) aiming at promoting the rapprochement between secondary and higher education systems with a view to share resources and stimulate to further studies in scientific and technological areas.  


This initiative aims to provide the students from 5 secondary schools (Tomar - Escola Secundária Jacome Ratton, Ourém - Escola Básica e Secundária e Torres Novas - Escola Secundária Maria Lamas) with knowledge in the areas of robotics, sensors, data communication and autonomous power systems and includes experimental activities in emerging areas of robotics, dynamisation of robotics clubs and scientific dissemination through lectures.


"CHOOSE ROBOTICS - Choose Science" is in line with IPT's objective of promoting closer links with the secondary and professional education establishments in the region and consists in the demonstration and development of innovative and experimental educational activities developed at IPT to teach/learn scientific and technological concepts in the areas of Automation and Robotics intended to inspire and encourage students of all ages.
