This year, a Seminar in Chemical and Environmental Engineering under the theme "In the light of chemistry" will be held in the Instituto Politécnico de Tomar (IPT) as part of the Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and the Master's degree in Chemical Technology.

This topic is of great relevance today. The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light. The Year will highlight the importance of light and optical technologies in the promotion of sustainable growth and the search for solutions to global challenges in the areas of chemical technology, environment, energy, education, agriculture and health.

The seminar is intended to students and faculty of the Master's in Chemical Technology, the Degrees in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and Environmental and Biological Engineering, the vocational programme (CET) in Environmental Quality, all IPT students and faculty, secondary school students and teachers and the general public interested in the creation and sharing of scientific knowledge.
