Objectives
On completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Understand the concept of contemporary art and culture;
- Be familiar with and contextualise contemporary art and culture;
- Recognise and relate works of art using appropriate terminology geared towards tourism and heritage management.

Program
1. Contemporary Art and Culture: the concept applied to a time of political and social transformation
2. The Baroque and Rococo in France: Society and Humanist Legacy
3. Art in Europe and England (18th-19th centuries)
4. Enlightenment, Liberty and Neo-Classicism: the ‘True Style’
4. Europe in the Age of Revolutions: Romanticism and other currents.
5. The relevance of the arts today

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment in two parts:
Theoretical part
- open-book written test as part of continuous assessment
Practical part
- compulsory Thematic Assignment presented either individually or in groups (50% of the final mark).
- Exam exemption with 10 marks
Weighting of the Practical Part - Students attending the course with less than half of the theoretical-practical contact hours will be penalised with 2 points (on a scale of 0 to 20).
Exam assessment: two assessment parts
Theoretical part
Open-book written exam (worth 50% of the final mark)
Practical part
Worth 50% of the final mark
1) The thematic assignment developed during the semester can be presented:
2.Alternatively, the Student carries out an assignment on a topic given on the exam paper and to be presented to the lecturer within 8 days of the completion of the Theoretical Part.

ME1 - Theoretical and theoretical-practical lectures (under bibliographical and multimedia references);
ME2 - PLB (Problem Based Learning), Field trips;
