We close the 2022 season of the Round-up in Photography and Territory with the series "Very Typical", by Tiago Casanova. Made in Lisbon, it crosses different exhibition formulas with somewhat ambiguous and disturbing images, made of pieces and fragments that sometimes seem to be shown, sometimes to be manipulated, such is the proximity and materiality of the objects. Using the tile as artifact, image, and conceptual motif of the work, this is a work that questions, somewhat ironically, the attitude, the belief, the motivation that in the last few years has contributed to Lisbon being transformed at a frenetic pace due to real estate speculation, mass tourism, visa gold, economic and political pressures. This exhibition and the collection of objects and images reflect on the territory in a particular way, through a young artist whose work is always reflective, refined, careful, and which we are pleased to present at Casa dos Cubos.

It opens on September 10 at Casa dos Cubos and is on display until November 6, 2022.

Tiago Casanova (Madeira, 1988) is a visual artist with a degree in Architecture from FAUP, where he co-founded Scopio Magazine in 2010. He was in charge of the 1st and 2nd Round-ups "The Photography in Architecture" (2008 and 2009) and the "FAUP Architecture Photography Award” in 2009. The FCT Grant for Research Integration through the CCRE (2008/09) allowed him to explore the relationship between photography and architecture through the work he carried out between 2007 and 2012 in partnership with the Centro de Comunicação e Representação Espacial of the Centro de Estudos da FAUP. In 2013 he co-founded the bookstore and publishing house XYZ Books, in 2014 A Ilha (Gallery and Cultural Space) and in 2017 Bulhufas Studio. He has exhibited his work since 2005, was one of the winners of the Prémio Bes Revelação in 2012, the Plat(t)form - Fotomuseum Winterthur in 2014 and received the special prize at the A 3 Bandas Festival 2015 in Madrid. He is represented by Galeria Carlos Carvalho.
