Seminar “GEDITEC - Economic Geography and Territorial Dynamics of Competitiveness”
The Seminar “GEDITEC - Economic Geography and Territorial Dynamics of Competitiveness” is due to be held next Friday 16th November at 10 am in the Dr. Júlio das Neves Lecture Hall (Room O106) in the IPT.
Throughout the day different topics will be debated from the presentation of the GEDITEC project and some results - Softinsa-IBM and a round table on Business Location, Territorial Dynamics and Public Policy, in the morning, to the experience of Delphi-Inlan in Ponte de Sor and a round table on Economic History, Collective Memory and Spatial Economics, in the afternoon.
This seminar is intended to present the GEDITEC project and the main results obtained in this first year of research as well as bring some experts together to discuss the relationship between business location, territorial economic dynamics and public policy, thus generating debate over the construction of a shared governance model of business location processes.
The Project “GEDITEC - Economic Geography and Territorial Dynamics of Competitiveness” is mainly aimed to the city of Tomar and its surrounding region and its research focus is the firm Softinsa-IBM (its ecosystem) that was based in Tomar in 2013. It is based on the premise that business location is associated with socio-economic dynamics that are irreplaceable in value creation for territories and is mainly intended to: identify the major channels and mechanisms of territorial consolidation of business dynamics, thus maximising the benefits of business location processes and mitigating the drawbacks of a potential relocation/closure, the creation of a shared governance model of business location processes.
