The Polytechnic of Tomar (IPT) and the Polytechnic of Castelo Branco (IPCB) will be organising the 21st International Symposium on Computers in Education (SIIE) that will be held in Tomar, 21-23 November 2019.

The SIIE is an international forum of presentation, discussion and reflection on the research, development and practice in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education.

Held alternately between Spain and Portugal, it provides a space for researchers, educators, and institutional representatives to exchange and discuss ideas. The SIIE has become a benchmark in the field of Educational Informatics particularly in the Latin American context.

Authors are invited to submit contributions on topics related to ICT in education, such as:

• Development methodologies, use and evaluation of ICT in education

• Learning Analytics            

• Teacher training in ICT      

• Ubiquitous programming in education                            

• Collaborative learning                              

• Gamification and simulation in education                            

• Learning Communities      

• Distance learning and e-assessment                      

• Robotics and programming education

• Artificial Intelligence in education

• Human-Computer Interaction in education

• Visualization in education

• Non-formal and informal workplace learning support

• Application of pedagogical theories to educational software design

• Virtual and remote laboratories

SIIE 2019 welcomes proposals for research papers and posters. A Doctoral Symposium, addressed to PhD students will also be organised. All contributions must be written in English (preferably), Portuguese or Spanish.

And for all educators and lecturers we are to inform that the SIIE 2019 is undergoing accreditation by the Technical Committee on Lifelong Education and Training.

• Notification of acceptance: September 20, 2019
• Submission of final version: October 11, 2019
• Registration deadline: October 11, 2019
•  Conference: 21-23 November 2019

Accepted papers and posters will be published in the Proceedings of the SIIE 2019, available during the event.   These proceedings are published as post Proceedings in IEEE Xplore.

The authors of the best papers will be invited to prepare and submit extended versions to be, after a new peer review, considered for publication in the following scientific journals: IEEE RITA, Education in Knowledge Society (EKS), Journal of Information Technology Research (JITR) and TICAI - annual publication produced by the Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian edition of the IEEE Education Society.

Among the guest speakers are Ana Amélia Carvalho (Full Professor at the University of Coimbra), Ángel Velázquez Iturbide (Full Professor at the University Rey Juan Carlos) and Antonio R. Bartolomé (Full Professor at the University of Barcelona). The organizing committee is chaired by Célio Gonçalo Marques, Professor at the Instituto Politécnico de Tomar. The Standing Committee is chaired by Martín Llamas Nistal of Vigo University and co-chaired by: Isabel Pereira from the Instituto Politécnico de Leiria and Diana Pérez from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.

The event also has the support of the Centre for Technology, Restoration and Art Enhancement (Techn&Art), the Asociación para el Desarrollo de la Educational Computing (ADIE) and the IEEE Education Society.
