Objectives
The course contentes are designed for students with no legal background. It includes the fundamentals of the Portuguese legal system and specific aspects that are of utility to the profission

II.General development of the concept of heritage law
- brief reference to the mesures prior to the beginning of the 20th century
- the post World War II
- from World War II to the present day
III.Na overview of the evolution of the Portuguese legal Framework
- the 1721 chart
- the end of monarchy
- the law during the Third Republic
IV.Public administration with jurisdiction over cultural heritage: central; regional; local
V.Major lines of the present Portuguese legal Framework for cultural heritage
a) Portuguese law
b)International
c) At Community level
VI.The patronage system
VII.The issue of the professional status of conservators

Evaluation Methodology
Assessment includes:
a) one mid -term test where s minimum mark of 10/20 is required to pass;
b)a final exam for students who falled the test where a minimum mark of 10/20 is required to pass the course.
