Objectives
At the end of the semester the student will be able to:
A.) Identity and explain the specific features that characterize each cycle of Globalization;
B.) Analyze the political dimension of Globalization in what refers to goals, aims, instruments and contemporary outreach;
C.) Interpret the economic component of Globalization having as reference contemporary concepts and paradigms;
D.) Differentiate the various elements that compose the Cultural dimension of Globalization with a framework set by the triple dialectic: local vs. global; heterogeneous vs. homogeneous and centrifugal vs. centripetal

3.2. From Cultural Relativism to State-centric traditionalism
3.3. Culture as an identity marker and as a social-cultural positioning mechanism
4. Communication in the Global Era
4.1. The uniformity of contents and planetary shows
4.2. Cultural Imperialism in a globalized world
5. Challenges of Globalization
5.1. The Rediscovery of the "Local" in the Age of the "Global"
5.2. The relevance of International Organizations
5.3. The emergence of nationalisms/totalitarianisms

Teaching Method
The course will have a theoretical-practical nature. The themes proposed by the syllabus will be explored resorting to expositive classes, as well as to exercises done in class and moderated by the instructor.
